My piece of the puzzle:
Joseph's primary role is as an Interface/Interactions Designer working with other OIA staff to develop new educational modules that engage students in learning activities. Joseph is not a programmer, per se. Rather his expertise is in interactions design with a focus on developing instructional objects and activities for web-based courses. Joseph is an excellent person to talk with about game-like interactions and can help faculty and instructors think about how to integrate these activities into their courses.
For example, Joseph has worked on the design and development of interactive multimedia of Learning Objects for an NSF Project at the Science and Technology Center (STC). He has also been a resource for 508 accessibility design issues, interactions and interface design, and usability issues for applications and websites developed with programs such as Flash.
Background and Education:
Before coming to the University of Arizona, Joseph taught Multimedia Design at Pima Community College, Television Production at Tucson Community Cable Corporation, and was an independent contractor developing interactive multimedia for corporations and community groups. In the course of these projects, he designed and developed informational interactive kiosks, wrote scripts, drew storyboards and did all production phases for educational/industrial videos.
For the last seven years he has supported the UA Multimedia and Visualization Lab and designed/developed and taught multimedia workshops. His honors include numerous awards from the National Federation of Local Cable Programmers (NFLCP) and Local Oasis Cable Programming.
