The 13th Annual Showcase was held Thursday May 8, 2008. The schedule was as follows:

9:00 - 9:50 Keynote — Tom Potter (room 130)

The Magic of Laughter a hilarious and thought-provoking look at the social, psychological, emotional and physical benefits of laughter.

Tom Potter is an award-winning comedy magician who has opened for Jay Leno and appeared is such films as The Skeleton Key, Nouveau Monde, and Fool's Gold. Tom specializes in corporate entertainment, but also has appeared in comedy clubs and on the Las Vegas Strip.

Tom is a graduate of The University of Arizona with a background in Educational Technology, and a former UA instructor with experience as a motivational speaker, but with the twist of doing so with a great sense of humor.

Poster session are in the courtyard and will run from 9:50 - noon.

Heather Lares, Learning Technology Services; Georgia Ehlers, Office of Fellowships, Internships and Community Engagement, Graduate College; Bruce Smith, Director, African American Student Affairs; Denise Pharris, Marketing & Graphic Design, Race Track Industry Program — In January 2008, the UA began broadcasting videos on its own YouTube university channel. Learn about the UA's YouTube channel and hear how UA programs are reaching current and prospective students, alumni and parents by participating.

Chris Johnson — The latest developments in Second Life use for teaching.

11:00 - 11:50 Breakout Session 3 Blogs and YouTube for instruction (room 119)

Amandine Andrade and Jean Paul Tadoum of the Department of French and Italian — These instructors will demonstrate how they have used Blogs and YouTube as effective instructional tools in the foreign language classroom. They will describe the process of creating materials and the pedagogical strategy for effective use.

Breakout Session 4 D2L panel (room 125)

Find out about the latest developments in D2L and get guidance on how to use the newest features most effectively. Panelist will discuss how they are using D2L to provide effective instruction, and will highlight features of D2L.
