AZ-LIVE Software

Here is a list of commercial and freely-available software packages and libraries that are currently being used in some manner in the AZ-LIVE facility. If you would like other software installed or evaluated, please contact us about your needs.

Commercial Software

OpenGL Performer 3.2

SGI's programming interface for developers creating real-time visual simulation and performance-oriented 3-D graphics applications.

CAVELib 3.1.1

VRCO's programming interface for developing robust applications for virtual environments and immersive displays.

trackd 5.5

VRCO's small daemon application that takes information from a variety of tracking and input devices and makes that information available for other applications to use.

Freely Available Software

OpenSceneGraph 1.1

An open source high-performance 3-D graphics toolkit, used by application developers in fields such as visual simulation, games, virtual reality, scientific visualization and modelling.

VTK 5.0.1 (The Visualization ToolKit)

An open-source, freely-available software system for 3-D computer graphics, image processing and visualization. VTK consists of a C++ class library and several interpreted interface layers including Tcl/Tk, Java, and Python.

DIVERSE (dtk 2.4.17 and dgl 2.4.4)

A cross-platform, open-source API for developing virtual reality applications that can run almost anywhere. The goal of DIVERSE is to enable developers to quickly build applications that will run on the desktop as well as various immersive systems.

VR Juggler 2.0.3-1

Flexible virtual reality suite of tools that provides a complete VR system abstraction in reusable, cross-platform and modular components. Juggler applications have the unique ability to morph to any VR installation using any operating system.

Chromium 1.9

A system for interactive rendering on clusters of workstations.  It offers a completely extensible architecture, so that parallel rendering algorithms can be implemented on clusters with ease.

VMD 1.8.4 (Visual Molecular Dynamics)

A molecular visualization program for displaying, animating and analyzing large biomolecular systems using 3-D graphics, built-in scripting and support for immersive environments.

Cave5D 1.4

Integrates Vis5D and CAVElib to provide interactive visualizations of time-varying, 3-dimensional data sets in an virtual environment. It supports the visualization of any Vis5d file and uses simple ascii configuration files to specify graphical objects at runtime.
