Welcome

Welcome to the University of Arizona Language Training Center

A renowned resource for second language acquisition and culture studies

The University of Arizona (UArizona) is internationally renowned for research in teaching second language acquisition along with globally aware language and culture studies. The University has a long history of partnering with the DoD for language training, while also housing multiple DLNSEO and Department of Education-funded centers and programs that support language and culture training for various types of learners.
Participants in our intensive language courses improve their language proficiency and advance their understanding of the target culture via outcomes-based courses. UArizona courses are offered in multiple modalities, including face-to-face, virtual, and hybrid sessions. Courses are primarily 150-160 hours of training in critical languages from all over the globe at levels ranging from ILR 1 to 4.
The UArizona Language Training Center, in partnership with the Center for English as a Second Language (CESL), also supports DoD personnel by providing high-quality foreign language pedagogical training. DoD personnel who complete our Foreign Language Teacher Training courses are well equipped to serve as certified Language Instructors, with a solid understanding of best practices for training and supporting lower-proficiency personnel engaged in language study.
